OPINION: ‘The kindness of strangers is a wondrous thing’

A vehicle from Margate Glass and Aluminum stopped behind us and the crew of six people unselfishly got out to help.

DEAR Editor,-

Whilst running the ‘potholed gauntlet’ called Marine Drive last Friday, the rear left tyre of my car hit one and I just managed to make my juddering way on the rim to the area in front of the police station in Wartski Drive.

My friend and I were still gaping at the carnage when a vehicle from Margate Glass and Aluminum stopped behind us and the entire crew of six people, like some heavenly host, swooped down upon us.

They removed the shredded tyre, drove up to the Engen filling station to have the flat spare tyre inflated (a lesson there), refitted it and swooped off again after wishing us a Merry Christmas!

Truly, the kindness of strangers is a wondrous thing.
