OPINION: ‘Honesty is always the best policy’

So why does the Herald not get info for publishing from Ugu?

DEAR Editor,-

I have lived in Port Shepstone (Umtentweni) for over 20 years and the status of our water supply infrastructure begs questioning in terms of SANS (South African National Water Specification) 2014 – 2015. I refer to the recent (December 29 edition of the Mercury) where Umgeni Water published their results.

The categories were: 1 Water Microbiological Health; 2 Acute Microbiological Health; 3 Acute Chemical Health; 4 Chronic Chemical Health; 5 Operational, and 6 Aesthetic.

The reader is advised that ‘the notification is issued in collaboration with six municipalities, including Ugu District Municipality.’ So why does the Herald not get info for publishing from Ugu?

SA’s paying public has the right to know, so why doesn’t Ugu give you the information for publication? They should readily supply this information for publication, and if not, the question is why?
