OPINION: ‘Service provided has been abysmal’

Emails to ICASA are acknowledged and promises are made, but to no avail.

DEAR Editor,-

Further to the letter written by Derek Antrobus (published in SCH January 12) regarding his experience with Telkom, we too have experienced the most indifferent, unprofessional and disdainful treatment from them.

We relocated from North West Province to Leisure Bay and received a call in October last year to confirm the ADSL installation at our new home would take place on December 20.

To cut a long story short, this call was summarily cancelled several times by some back-office Telkom staff, with no explanation, nor any way to trace it.

Support staff spoken to over several hours were helpless to obtain the information either, despite hours spent with them at depots in Amanzimtoti and Shelly Beach.

Emails to ICASA are acknowledged and promises are made, but to no avail. Our business is totally reliant on the business line connection, but this elaboration to various Telkom support staff elicits no reaction.

No work is performed, yet you are sent rating messages for staff members that were interacted with? One would assume they never obtain performance-related bonuses based on this!

Three weeks later and we are still no closer to having the matter resolved! Disgraceful!
