OPINION: ‘Municipality breaks its own by-laws’

I have given up hoping they will be fixed.

DEAR Editor,-

I would like to once again report massive potholes in Cooke and Broome Streets in Margate, around the Art Museum and library. These have not been fixed for a very long time and I have given up hoping they will be fixed.

I notice that there are now new by-laws for which we can be fined up to R25 000. One reason is and I quote ‘act in a manner dangerous to life or damage to property’.

By not repairing these very deep and dangerous potholes, the municipality is in fact breaking their own by-laws. I look forward to receiving a positive response to my email sent to RNM.
