DEAR Editor,-
My son John and his wife Leane left for Mozambique last Sunday morning and stopped at Southcoast Mall to get some supplies, after which John visited the toilet. About two hours later, while travelling north, John realised he had left his cellphone in the toilet.

He phoned me and I agreed to go up to the mall to enquire after the phone. John confirmed that the phone had been switched off, which highlighted our concern as to the likelihood of recovery. I spoke to a very neatly dressed security guard and gave him my contact details and a description of the phone.
He explained that the management office was closed on Sundays and the earliest I should expect feedback would be on Monday.
About thirty minutes after leaving the mall, I was advised by the security office that the phone had been handed in and I was able to collect it.
Bongani, (I never got his surname unfortunately) the man responsible for cleaning the toilet is to be commended for his honesty and is a reflection of the value system encouraged by the mall management team. Likewise, security is thanked for the efficient way my enquiry was handled.
DAVE BOYD
