OPINION: ‘When will Ugu see the ‘bigger picture’?’

The consequences of these Ugu actions is destroying tourism - the lifeblood of the Lower South Coast of KZN.

DEAR Editor,-

I attach a photo of a vandalised pipe and missing meter at the bottom of Torquay Avenue on the corner of Brighton and Bexhill Avenues in Leisure Bay which supplies water to the Peter Pan beach ablutions.

When the Leisure Bay Ratepayers’ Association (LBRA) reported this incident to Ugu last week, we were advised that the ‘problem is because of non payment on Ray Nkonyeni Municipality’s side’.

We are shattered by this scandalous and uncaring attitude and action on the part of Ugu, who regrettably resorted to such measures.

All this petty and shortsighted tactic actually achieves is to negatively impact on holidaymakers who visit our wonderful, natural and pristine beaches.

The consequences of these Ugu actions is destroying tourism, which is the lifeblood of the Lower South Coast of KZN.

How shortsighted can you be? Hang your heads in shame, Ugu.
