OPINION: ‘Count your blessings daily’

I say ‘Thank you, Lord’ and carry on with my day a little more content.

DEAR Editor,-

Recently I read of the atrocities committed by the Crusaders where non-believers were flayed to death.

We hear that most wars have been caused by religion and daily we hear of innocent men, women and children, being shot or bombed to death in the name of religion.

It is no wonder that many turn their backs on religion.

The other day, in my garden shed lean-to, I saw a tiny baby praying mantis, no bigger than a centimetre, on an empty white carton lid.

Every detail was clear. It was sitting on its hind legs, the tiny head and mouth preening and cleaning its forelegs as they do.

Unbelievable that such a small creature has all the organs needed for life. ‘All creatures great and small’ comes to mind.

I say ‘Thank you, Lord’ and carry on with my day a little more content.
