OPINION: ‘Constant ‘offline’ status spells disaster’

DEAR Editor,-

With increasing frequency, it appears that post offices and post office agencies are experiencing ‘offline’ challenges every other day or week – in some cases it is weeks!

The word ‘inconvenience’ is an understatement because ‘offline’ means that you cannot deposit into a Postbank account, you cannot pay accounts or obtain TV or fishing licences.

They always tell customers that the problem has been ‘reported to the IT department’.

This is a crucial situation, especially in view of SASSA coming on board!
