What is the reason we pay more for transaction than AARTO requires?

The assessment for renewal of motor vehicle licence reflects the motor licence fee as R600, but the transaction fee on this document is R42.

DEAR Editor,-

Letter author Piet Malan’s explanation in a recent Herald regarding car licence receipts, however important, did not solve my problem with transaction fee discrepancy.

I have two documents for the same car, but there is clearly a big difference. However insignificant it is, it should be clearly explained.

What is the reason we pay more for transaction than AARTO requires?

The motor licence fee is R600, but the ‘Transaction fee’ of R72 differs from the original assessment document received.

Again, I will strongly insist that a price-list should be visibly displayed at the paypoint.
