DEAR Editor,-
With reference to the letter to sign a petition for the old derelict Protection Services buildings in Munster from Kate Grieve and in light of continued problems, especially over a vast number of years, what about the following:
YOU MIGHT ALSO BE INTERESTED IN : OPINION: ‘You can make a difference’
Find a sponsor or two, renovate the buildings (with municipal approval, of course) into a modern, maybe ‘new-age’ style and turn it into a bright, vibrant place – then use the buildings for community services and projects.
Projects like community safety (CPF/Neighbourhood Watch); NSRI assistance office; beach clean-up headquarters and recycling depot; a sanctuary for lost or stray animals; tourist information and liaison hot-spot all spring to mind – to name just a few. Any other community needs may be considered.
Surely this will benefit both the municipality and especially the Munster community, to relieve the area of this eyesore which has been plaguing them now for some time?
Breathe new life into the derelict structures before it falls into total ruin.
I am willing to partake, free-of-charge, as a volunteer in such a project/projects and am prepared to tend the building as caretaker. I have the most wonderful memories of the most incredible holidays in Munster as a child during the 80s and am deeply saddened to see this happen to the area.
