DEAR Editor,-
The South Coast is not ruled by the ANC or any other political party. It is ruled by the municipal workers and their union!
This became evident once again when they left authorities powerless and helpless with their illegal strike. leaving South Coast residents without water supply.

If this is sabotage, as admitted by DD Naidoo, then I am left with the question: Why was the help of the SANDF (defence force) not called for?
I am also astonished that the risk management unit has once again proven that they are not prepared to ‘manage risks’, such as we have experienced the past week again.
One would really have thought that as a result of previous similar threats and sabotage by municipal workers, relevant authorities and the Risk Management Unit would have taken precautionary measures to avoid the shutting off of the water supply, and/or to at least have secured the main water supply better.
I am a very concerned resident: If municipal workers have the powers and access to shut off the main water supply, what other damage could they cause?
Furthermore, how safe is our water, or can the authorities certify that our water has not been sabotaged as well? This is far more serious than meets the eye!
I plead with residents to appeal to opposition parties to have Mr Naidoo removed because of his incompetence in managing crisis situations.
And to have Ugu District Municipality placed under administration until we have leaders who can manage labour unrest and other concerning matters.
