OPINION: ‘Shame on you Ugu!’

The selfish strike action of Ugu workers affects the most vulnerable members of society most seriously.

DEAR Editor,-

The sorry state of affairs with the ongoing water woes in Ugu district over the past few weeks has resulted in a difficult situation – especially for women and children – the most vulnerable members of society.

The feedback that we have received from both rural and coastal areas from mothers who have a difficult enough time as it is to manage their households, without the added stress of having to cope with no water, has been noted with dismay.

It goes without saying that water is a basic human right and that the situation at Ugu has resulted in ANOTHER water supply interruption is unacceptable.

Sort out your problems Ugu, once and for all, and provide the people of the district with the water supply that they have a right to and pay for. Shame on you Ugu.
