OPINION: ‘Unchecked beach littering is an eyesore’

With every holiday season, things just seem to deteriorate further.

DEAR Editor,-

My family and I decided to venture down to the beach last weekend and what a disappointment!

Under a big, clear sign at the entrance to Oslo Beach, the garbage bin was overflowing and the mess surrounding it was unbelievable.

Whether this is negligence on the side of the municipality or whether it was just from one weekend of partying, we aren’t sure, but beach bins don’t seem to be a priority with RNM.

But what we are sure of is that holidaymakers must be disgusted at the appalling amount of garbage lying around on streets and beaches of the South Coast.

Why can’t we get it right in season? And why can’t the municipality be proactive by scheduling more garbage pickups during school holidays?

We despair. With every holiday season, things just seem to deteriorate further.
