My family and I moved to Ramsgate to try and live in harmony and enjoy the lifestyle that you would expect living on the coast. This has not been the case.
Ever since moving here I have heard about and experienced how a company, or be it a handyman, charges or demands exorbitant prices for repairs or alterations to buildings, motorcars or even with water tank installations.

Some companies install water tanks, not according to SANS regulations, but as they please.
Motorcar repair companies also try to challenge clients and sometimes charge for parts not used.
They keep the vehicle for four weeks and give false information. The client will then have to pay ridiculous costs for a vehicle that is not even repaired properly.
Roofing repair companies state on their quotes they will guarantee repairs, but if the roof still leaks and ceiling damage occurs there would be more costs involved.
The list goes on with these dodgy ‘sharks’ who operate along the South Coast.
So many residents have paid for repairs and installations, but have no claim for shoddy workmanship or receive a proper guarantee.
We need a control centre that will supply a list of reputable companies to call for repairs or equipment installations.
And where can these dodgy companies be recorded – naming and shaming, so that the people of the South Coast can have some peace of mind?
