OPINION: ‘Festival organisers can take a bow’

I was entranced, taking just a little time out for the odd pancake or cup of coffee from street stalls.

DEAR Editor,-

Congratulations must be extended to the organisers of the homegrown community festival known as the Ramsgate Book and Art Festival for their sterling efforts in arranging last weekend’s wonderful event.

The breadth of subjects and variety of authors presenting in the beautiful rainbow tent was mind-boggling. There must have been almost 20 to choose from and the variety of their published works was most impressive.

I was entranced, taking just a little time out for the odd pancake or cup of coffee from street stalls.

I rediscovered the joys of being read to and Rob Caskie’s vivid story telling of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift almost had me dodging bullets and spears.

There were so many events to choose from, but a choice had to be made and I stuck with the printed word.

Once again, heartfelt thanks to the organising committee for a most wonderful event.
