OPINION: ‘Selvan’s deeds don’t go unnoticed’

I wish that we had more people like him on this coast.

DEAR Editor,-

I wasn’t surprised to see Selvan Chetty commending the late Sheila Park on her great contribution to the South Coast.

Indeed she was a woman who justly deserves this praise and applause. A ‘first responder’ indeed. May she rest in peace.

But, who praises Selvan Chetty for his many, diverse and practical deeds? All for the improvement of the community.

I personally know of many occasions on which a serious problem has been averted – or attended to – by Selvan before it even became common knowledge.

Selvan is one of those rare individuals who rolls up his sleeves and gets the job done, without thinking of praise or recognition, as so many others do.

If there’s a job to be done he’ll do it. I wish that we had more people like Selvan Chetty on this coast.

I also wish more people on this coast would realise that we all owe him abundant gratitude.
