OPINION: ‘Blatant waste of potable water is a disgrace’

Why must the public always inform them of major leaks and broken pipes?

DEAR Editor,-

Thousands of litres of good drinking water are being wasted due to shoddy maintenance or incompetence on the part of the municipality we have.

Why must the public always inform them of major leaks and broken pipes?

Don’t they inspect the water mains on a regular basis?

The main valve on Chestnut Road in Southport (just around the bend on the bridge) is leaking – gushing water into the stream.

This needs to be repaired NOW.
