OPINION: ‘Pretty pavers’ were a waste of money’

Maybe the municipality will be reimbursed by the contractor for a job badly done.

DEAR Editor,-

I note with dismay that the municipality is busy pulling up all the ‘pretty pink pavers’ installed at intersections.

At the time that the contractor secured this lucrative tender, I remember writing to the South Coast Herald to say what a waste of money it was when potholes were getting bigger in size and number by the day.

So after a few years when all these pavers sank to below road level causing horrific bumps in the road, it has been decided to replace them with asphalt – which was there in the first place!

Surely this counts as fruitless, wasteful expenditure?

Maybe the municipality will be reimbursed by the contractor for a job badly done.
