On behalf of my family, I want to sincerely thank Maser Force Security, Netcare 911, Margate Clinic and Port Shepstone Regional Hospital.
On the morning of Friday, November 23, we experienced a ‘Black Friday’ miracle baby.
I live with my pregnant cousin and as I was about to leave the house for work, she complained about being in pain so I told her to get ready so that I could drop her off at the hospital.

It all happened so fast and all I can say is that within five minutes, her water had broken and the baby landed on the bathroom floor!
That was at 6.30am. I then panicked and scrambled around the house trying to call the ambulance, but that didn’t quite work out as I was experiencing network problems.
That’s just how life is when you are going through something. By this time it was 7am and I realised the cord had to be cut, so I did that whilst at the same time instructing my daughter to trip the alarm.
And boom! Kobus Prinsloo and Uys Steyn from Maser Force Security arrived.
They could see I was panicking so they took control of the situation and called the ambulance.
Kobus made sure the baby was fine, kept him warm and comforted the new mother.
Upon seeing that the ambulance was taking some time to arrive, Uys ran up (while answering more calls) to flag down the ambulance.
Paramedics Goodman Mabaso and Fortune Ngcobo arrived with the ambulance and thoroughly checked everything.
They took mom and baby to the nearest clinic and that’s when I met with the wonderful staff at Margate Clinic. They are just the nicest nurses ever!
They did what they could and then concluded that my cousin had to be transferred to a hospital.
After calling to make sure she would be admitted, the ambulance transferred mom and baby.
Oh my, the Port Shepstone Regional Hospital was also a very pleasant experience and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
I would really like to thank everyone who helped us on Black Friday, when my cousin’s baby boy made his surprise entry into this world.
He simply could not miss out on the Black Friday specials – and has sure given us a story to tell for years to come.
