OPINION: A driver’s licence really is plastic gold

I phoned the KZN MEC for answers and was told that all were sworn to secrecy there.

DEAR Editor,-

With reference to the article entitled ‘Delays to driver’s licence continues’ (SCH December 7).

I applied for my licence card on July 9 and up to now (December), there are no licences available at Umzinto.

I keep phoning, but there’s still no joy.

I obtained a temporary licence, the same as Bevis Fairbrother explained in ‘Butthead’s Beat’ (SCH November 2).

I phoned the KZN MEC for answers and was told that all were sworn to secrecy there.

They further informed me that a receipt for a licence is all you need if stopped by police. And it is valid indefinitely.

Thanks for a good newspaper.
