OPINION: ‘Inflated rates are a rip-off’

The public is being robbed of funds they don’t have and should not have to pay in the first place.

DEAR Editor,-

We live in an estate in Leisure Bay and the rates have been doubled without any notice or reason from the municipality.

Stands are being sold for approximately R200 000 and the municipality still refuses to adjust rates according to what has been sold in the last three years – which is the law.

Someone needs to investigate this, as it is robbing the public of funds they don’t have and should not have to pay in the first place.
