OPINION: ‘Hopefully not just election promises’

Members of the Pennington Community Watch refurbished all the street name signs in Pennington.

EDITOR: I would like to clear up some possible misunderstanding that may have been created by a photograph on page 6 of last week’s Mid South Coast Mail, dated January 25, 2019.

Members of the Pennington Community Watch refurbished all the street name signs in Pennington. Funds for this project were provided by the PCW members and the Pennington Ratepayers and Residents Association.

The street name behind the street naming team in the photograph is an example of that.

The fact that there is so much grass around the road signs is due to the fact that the Umdoni Municipality has not performed any grass cutting services for more than six months.

I take note of the article below the picture titled “Umdoni strives to improve” and hope that this is a real undertaking and not just a promise made in an election year.

I am looking forward to seeing potholes repaired and road maintenance being done.
