OPINION: ‘Thanks for getting the leak sorted’

My neighbour showed them where the water was pouring into the river and the following day the leak had stopped.

DEAR Editor,-

Thank you for the assistance, directly or indirectly, with the issue of the never ending water leak in Southport (SCH Letters to the editor ‘I will keep trying to report the leak’ February 22).

Following the publication, I was phoned by an Ugu staff member who asked if the leak I had reported had stopped? I told her it had not.

She asked for my address and about an hour later a smart double cab arrived at my address with two Ugu employees asking to be shown the leak.

My neighbour showed them where the water was pouring into the river and the following day the leak had stopped.

It had been running at about a litre a second since November 2017, which equates to roughly 60 litres a minute.

My neighbour was given the phone number of the technician who sorted the leak out, who asked to be advised directly if it reoccurs.

It’s a step in the right direction.
