OPINION: ‘The author is most likely uninformed’

As a resident and business owner in Port Edward, I totally disagree with the writer's view.

DEAR Editor,-

With reference to the letter ‘Port Edward is sliding disrepair’ (SCH, February 22).

Whilst it is one’s right to submit letters and views, it is generally good practice that such should be accurate.

The article is accurate only on the fact that there is an establishment which advertises rooms by the hour. That, and only that is true.

As a resident of Valley Road and owner of a small local business in Port Edward, for a number of years, I totally disagree with the writer’s view.

Perhaps author Susan Smith relies solely on the internet for her information as seems to be implied. If so, one won’t find much.

Because the town is, for the most part, an idyllic little paradise and what is considered ‘newsworthy’ in these current times are mostly acts of violence and abuse.

In Port Edward we don’t have much of that – so hence, nothing on the internet. Nothing happening? He, he.

The writer is just uninformed and quite likely not involved to any extent.

If one lives in isolation and seclusion, that is quite likely to be what one sees. Nothing.

It concerns me however that such a letter would be printed for the public without anyone seemingly have attempted to substantiate or validate the accuracy.

Integrity is a word that comes to my mind. A good example of why I don’t support your publication.
