DEAR Editor,-
CemAir has disappeared from the face of the earth.
Their official website is not operational anymore and their Facebook page was last updated on January 11 – a day before they were finally grounded.

Ray Nkonyeni Municipality has also not received any official communication from them regarding their service agreement.
I’ve personally tried to contact them via email and messages, but all my efforts were in vain – no response from them whatsoever.
I just wonder what is going to happen with the outstanding refunds owed to those who booked flights in advance before CemAir’s final grounding.
What I could ascertain unofficially is that CemAir has closed down its facilities at OR Tambo Airport and retrenched all their staff.
They are now apparently only doing cargo flights into Africa.
As far as Airlink is concerned, the Memorandum of Understanding is nearly ready for signature by both parties.
Airlink will start operations as soon as these arrangements are in place. They will most probably take over the infrastructure at Margate Airport, left abandoned by Cemair.
When exactly Airlink will start operating, I can unfortunately not tell and all I know at this stage is that they are very keen to start, as soon as humanly possible.
I will update any further developments as and when more information becomes available.
CLLR GEORGE HENDERSON
