Psalm 112: 1-7 New International Version
1 Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.
2 Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.
4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
5 Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.
6 Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever.
7 They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
IN these days of trouble and turmoil it’s easy to get downhearted and fearful.
But the Word of God tells us to look to God, to praise Him. And to fear Him as one deserving utmost respect and reverence.
Further, it says to delight (take great joy) in His commands.
There is a perception perhaps that God’s commands are outdated, useless and meaningless.
I’d suggest nothing could be further from the truth. If anything, people need to return to God’s way of doing things.
So, in a time where the world seems to have gone quite mad, focus your eyes and heart on God.
And keep on doing the right things … be gracious, generous and compassionate.
When it comes to being righteous, there is only one way – to receive Christ and His righteousness which is imputed to those who believe in Him.
