OPINION: ‘Flood victims need your help’

Some lost loved ones and homes that can never be replaced - our hearts go out to these people and we pray that they will find peace in their hearts.

DEAR Editor:

It is with a very sad heart we are writing this letter as the flooding last week changed many people’s lives forever.

Some lost loved ones and homes that can never be replaced. Our hearts go out to these people and we pray that they will find peace in their hearts.

Closer to home people residing in Club Marina had their homes flooded. A very big thank you goes to the following people that opened their hearts to these residents: Scottburgh Primary School, Rosemary East, Jenny, Elaine, Dot Devitt, Avanti Louw, Simoné, Rose, Richard van Waltleven, Lecia du Preez, Julie Mackay, Kalay, Rix Windell, Sheila Bestel, Elsa Schonken and all of those who dropped off donations at our home and the Mail newspaper.

It took a lot of quick thinking and work to get foodstuff and clothing out to the people in need, but we can proudly say it was done.

The people at Club Marina stood together and cooked meals for everyone affected by the floods.

One of our Angels, Linda Cloete, was in constant contact with us as to what was happening there and she also collected items for those in need. Linda you are a true Angel. May God bless you all.

Please contact Joanne’s Angels if you have any household items you wish to donate. We are in need of furniture, beds, stoves, fridges and any household items that can help people out after the floods. Contact 082-3377330 or 039-9760246.
