OPINION: ‘Licensing experience was a revelation’

I was dreading going after all the complaints I had read.

DEAR Editor,

I would like to congratulate Mervin Moodley who is in charge of the Port Shepstone licensing department. He is helpful and willing to explain how to proceed and his staff were also very kind and helpful.

I was dreading going after all the complaints I had read. We went at 6am after reading that there was no parking available and that we would have to queue for hours. We parked right near the gate and my son joined the queue to get us a ticket number.

At 8am the office opened and our son came back to the car to fetch us.

It took an hour from entering the office, getting the paperwork done and paying for renewal etcetera. By 10.30am we were back in Uvongo.

Far from being a nightmare, it was, in fact, an efficient and pleasant event. Don’t be put off by others as I was, it is thanks to Mr Moodley and his staff that all went well.
