OPINION: ‘Vicky did the South Coast proud’

The earth resounds as we feel the power of the bikes.

DEAR Editor,-

Once again, by organising and executing a flawless South Coast Bike Fest, Vicky Wentzel did the South Coast proud and brought national and international pride and awareness to our community.

She and her outstanding team must be congratulated and heralded for sterling efforts.

This year, even more so, because the ‘Vicky Wentzel Magic Miracle Makers’ had to contend with torrential rains that tore into our shores a few days before the annual festival.

Few experiences can equal the feel of power that we all experience when big bikes simultaneously make the most exciting journey of the year to and from Margate.

And, of course, there’s the much-needed income that pours in, keeping the economy buoyant until the next original event.

And the many exciting events organised by Vicky and her team ensure that no senses are left complacent.

The many and diverse beach stages, The Village Pier Rock Stage, The Sunset Beach Party venues, all add to the non-stop excitement.

And, once again she brought top musical bands and solo artists in the country to our coast.

Artists like Fokofpolisiekar, Locnville, Euphonic and many more, brought the happenings in Margate to a new level of excitement.

Add to this superb food stalls, the non-stop buzz created by yet another world-class event – our community gratitude should be shouted from rooftops.

So, on behalf of our community, restaurants, pubs, hotels, B and B’s, shops and patrol stations – let’s join hands to thank Vicky for bringing new, original excitement to the South Coast.

And for bringing a much-needed inflow of money, through visitors and local spending.

Each of the many wonderful events that this team organises throughout the year is important for our pride and vital for our economy.

Vicky, we thank you, for another world-class event.
