DEAR Editor,-
We found ourselves in a dire situation on the afternoon of May 15th when our mentally unstable 15-year old decided to take the road – probably for the eighth time this year.
He had a court appearance last Friday for placement in a care facility, so that he can get the help he needs.

We asked for help on social media and the community came to our assistance.
Around 11pm, Jacques Opperman from Maser Force Security called to inform me that the night shift were also on the lookout.
By Thursday morning, and throughout the day, Jacques, who was actually off duty, kept me up to date, as did extremely helpful colleague Jay Delport, who was working day shift in the control room.
Unfortunately there were some individuals who sent us on a wild goose chase last Friday – which didn’t help.
However, we got a break around 3pm when he was spotted in Uvongo by one of the Maser officers.
We were notified and with the help of Maser he was found safe and sound.
I would like to thank Myburg Coetzee (who helped pick him up) and his back-up Sphamandla Sikobi.
Sincere thanks also go to Dean Naidoo and Armandt van Reenen, who similarly went out of their way to help.
A super special thank you to Jacques Opperman, who was off on the Thursday and Friday, but still went out of his way to help us.
Even though he worked night shift, he never slept in order to keep the communication and feedback flowing.
To Joffre Hannaway and Anthony Apostilides, a super huge heartfelt thank you to this wonderful team of people who wear their hearts as badges on their uniforms.
These are people that the company can be awesomely proud of.
They went the extra mile, above and beyond the call of duty, to help people they have never met.

Because of this amazing effort, our son went to court last Monday and is now placed at a facility where he can get all the help he needs.
This would not have been possible without persistence of the Maser team.
We cannot express enough gratitude. Thank you to all.
