DEAR Editor,-
As regular Uvongo parkrun participants, we express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Margate Round Tablers for setting it up six years ago and for their continued and much valued support for this wonderful community project since then.

Thanks also to race directors and their dedicated band of volunteers who are at St Michael’s beach every Saturday morning, bright and early (long before the 8am start), sunshine or rain, to host these weekly free, timed 5km parkruns.
As parkrunners, we also appreciate the ongoing support Uvongo parkrun receives from the South Coast Herald and its photo-journalist Vee Ramsayi.

He was there at the inaugural run and was still photographing the parkrun action six years later at Uvongo’s recent anniversary.
Uvongo parkrun has become a community of friends and is a tremendous benefit to the mental and physical health of the many local runners and walkers who regularly take part.
It is also proving a big tourist drawcard.

As the 11th oldest parkrun in South Africa, it is well-known and is on the ‘must do’ list of many South African and foreign parkrunners who, at times, even come to the South Coast just to do this famous parkrun.
Finally thank you to our fellow Uvongo parkrunners for their friendship.
JUDI AND BILL DAVIS
