OPINION: ‘Surely the family deserves answers?’

It is unacceptable that three years later they are no closer to closure.

DEAR Editor,

The article ‘Three years and counting in Nair murder mystery’ (SCH July 5) on the tragic death one of own young South Coast men Dane Nair, seems to be a reflection of similar incidents many families in South Africa are experiencing.

An unnatural death occurred after Dane sought help and protection at a police station – a basic human need that was taken away.

Surely the Nair family deserves to have answers?

And it is unacceptable that three years later they are no closer to closure.

I urge the officers in charge to address this matter with respect and understanding, as should be done with any tragic, traumatic situation.
