OPINION: ‘Seven cats die mysteriously’

Poisoning an animal is cruel and incredibly painful - it is a serious offence and anyone found guilty will be prosecuted.

DEAR Editor,-

Recently I was shocked beyond belief when seven cats at Banana Cabanas in Banana Beach suddenly died.

Seven cats do not just die and I was devastated.

When the seventh cat was dying, I became suspicious and contacted the Lower South Coast SPCA.

The cat was taken to a vet in Margate, tests were done and sent to Onderstepoort, Pretoria, to determine whether these poor animals had been poisoned.

We await the autopsy report but I am almost certain it will reveal what we suspect.

Poisoning an animal is cruel and incredibly painful – it is a serious offence and anyone found guilty will be prosecuted, as confirmed by SPCA inspectors.

Whoever you are – I don’t know how you sleep at night. Have you no conscience?
