DEAR Editor;
Pumula is still off line, and not a single word from any Ugu employee. On the plus side, a ‘community tap’ was installed in Capuchin Road. This defies logic. It’s okay to install a tap yet there’s no water? So we now have this tap, yet Ugu cannot restore water to a system that’s been operational for years. It’s embarrassing to say the least, a slap in the face to the paying residents. And yet, still no word about our current disaster of being 20 days off line.

RESPONSE FROM UGU
France Zama, spokesman of Ugu District Municipality, responded by saying that the northern system covering the Hibberdene, Woodgrange and Pumula areas fed from the Melville and Anerley systems had been drastically affected. “Although the bulk supply from Umzimkhulu is healthy, the prognosis is major water loss on the northern main line, suspected to either be an open scour or burst line. Our teams are on the ground currently investigating the matter. Water relief supply will be scheduled as the restoration time gets delayed.”
