OPINION; ‘Pensioner robbed by carer’

A friend suggested I arrange for a helper when I came out of hospital.

DEAR Editor;

A few months ago I underwent a major hospital procedure.

A friend suggested I arrange for a helper when I came out of hospital.

She and I agreed upon a wage until I was back on my feet, about three or four weeks.

Later she volunteered to work once a month as a maid, doing my ironing and floor cleaning.

All this time I had heard about her daughter, an invalid, totally unable to move and bedridden from birth.

I felt sorry and agreed to let her earn a little cigarette money.

Recently, I discovered that the title deeds to my house had disappeared.

With the lockdown having been in place, the obvious suspect was the only other person allowed inside my house.

My lawyers have taken steps to block her actions, at great expense to me.

This serves as a warning to other people who might find themselves in a similar situation.
