OPINION: ‘Fallen pole could cause problems’

Ward councillor Tap Kruger was contacted and he reported it.

DEAR Editor;

I have previously called the authorities to complain about a streetlight that is not working on the corner of Stephen and Goodlands roads in Anerley.

It was not seen to.

Now an electricity pole has been left lying on the ground on the same corner.

Ward councillor Tap Kruger was contacted and he reported it.

To date the pole is still on the corner.

Visibility is not good at night and a vehicle could be damaged driving onto the pole protruding into Stephen Road.

It would appear Ray Nkonyeni Municipality is only interested in collecting rates but does not bother to sort out infrastructure.

One only has to drive through the South Coast to see evidence of potholes in the roads and overgrown bush on verges.

The Anerley bus station has dense bush surrounding it and passengers waiting for a bus or taxi have taken to standing on the road in front of the bus station so they can be seen by oncoming taxis or their bus.

As a community we are tired of the municipality ignoring our pleas to have these problems sorted.
