OPINION: Medical care makes patient’s day… and trip”

Some very unsavoury thoughts – and words! – pass through one's mind.

DEAR Editor;

Potholes, roadworks, accidents and non-functioning robots make travelling between home in Southport and Margate a harrowing experience at the best of times.

Add to this the unpleasant experience of various medical procedures and the trip becomes physically and mentally challenging.

Some very unsavoury thoughts – and words! – pass through one’s mind.

What a blessing, therefore, to encounter some amazing people at the medical facilities, who all went the proverbial extra mile.

Dr David Glass, Edna Opara, Clarissa Martin and Stanley Kaziboni (of the x-ray department) at Hibiscus Hospital and Laiken Winter from Ampath Lab.

Their friendly, kind and compassionate treatment made the very unpleasant procedures bearable.

It is difficult to express the gratitude one feels.

I travelled home on the same hazardous road with all the irritations but this time with gratitude and far more pleasant thoughts on my mind.

A heartfelt thank you to all concerned.
