Tuning in: Brave rugby youngsters make Sharks U19 squad

Sponsorship is needed for items such as: hoodies, playing vests, shorts, warm tops and black ankle socks.

Locals, Kagitso Mzolo and Judah Paulsen have been chosen to play in the Under 19A KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Rugby squad. The Umdoni community should be incredibly proud of these two youngsters.

Sponsorship is needed for items such as: hoodies, playing vests, shorts, warm tops and black ankle socks.

They will play for three days in the week, so they need at least two sets of everything, and even though it is in Durban if history plays its part then they have to stay with the team in dorms, so there is a bigger fee involved.

These two have made the team under the conditioning coaching of their dad, Gordy Paulsen.

Kagitso Mzolo is excited to be chosen to play in the U19A Sharks rugby squad.

They have been eagerly awaiting any kind of rugby to be opened after two years of it being cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions in school sport.

Having made provincial every year since U12 it was devastating to miss Craven Week U16 in 2020, but they have persevered and continued to put in the effort to remain on top.
They are hoping to be noticed next year and to be called up into the ‘big league’ after matric next year and into an international career.

Any donations towards their expenses for gym, kit and tournament fees would be appreciated.

Donations received so far are: R800 from OK Foods, Pennington; Mrs. J. Stephenson also donated R800.

It would be so good if Scottburgh Rugby Club got involved in assisting these young men. Also the local gyms. Sponsorship is urgently required for shakes.

It is time to start thinking about December/Christmas/New Year and any events that will benefit the community.

Umdoni Retirement Village is holding a Christmas craft market on Saturday, November 27. A few outdoor spaces are available for traders. SMS 076 5418610 or email heathton@gmail.com if you’re interested.
