OPINION: ‘R102 in the dark after removal of streetlights’

Thus leaving this section of road very dark and a haven for crime.

DEAR Editor;

I noticed that almost all the streetlights along the R102, between Port Shepstone and Umtentweni have been sawn off. I looked at the poles and noticed that the lights were removed.

Thus leaving this section of road very dark and a haven for crime.

I don’t know if it’s vandalism or crime as the motive, the theft of the lights, or did Ray Nkonyeni Municipality remove the lights?

But then, why spend all that money on erecting the street lights, just to remove it, and let the poles lay around?

PIET CLOETE
