OPINION: ‘Now I know the meaning of snail mail’

I was quite surprised to find that the service still existed.

DEAR Editor;

I received a letter recently. Do you remember when we used to get them regularly, written on paper and delivered by a postman? This one was computer-generated, but the postman was real enough.

I was quite surprised to find that the service still existed.

The content of the missive was very dull and somewhat baffling.

The municipality was reminding me to pay my rates, but I am up to date with my rates payments.

Then I noticed the date; October 13, 2021. The letter had taken six-and-a-half months to travel 12km. Thank goodness for email!
