OPINION: Another brick in the wall

"The window of wonderfulness is made smaller and smaller, until it literally has only one aperture left."

A well known song that was banned in this country at one stage, was Pink Floyd’s – “Another Brick in the Wall.”

The government at the time felt the lyrics conveyed to the discerning public a need for disdain of authority and the education system.

However, fellow South Africans, the foot is now in the other boot!

Let me explain.

Imagine a wall before you which has a window opening, that shows you the benefits of our country. Good roads. Excellent health care. Wonderful transport network. Suitable service delivery etc, etc. What a super place we live in!

Now, imagine as each of the aforementioned ‘benefits’ is degraded and becomes wanting, a brick is built into the wall.

The window of wonderfulness is made smaller and smaller, until it literally has only one aperture left.

Well, my fellow South Africans, tonight is the night when that last brick is put in the wall – the petrol price increase has seen to that.
