OPINION: Seaslopes road needs more lighting

It's time something drastic was done.

I’m writing in reference to a recent front page story ‘Motorist escapes as car goes up in flames in Seaslopes Road’ – July 8, 2022.

This Margate-Uvongo section is a death trap, with far too many accidents there. There is absolutely no lighting on this offramp.

So, from the south side turning left onto the offramp, there are no lights to warn people of what is ahead of them.

Tow trucks at night have sometimes three businesses waiting there.

As far as I can see, Seaslopes road does not have one light working.

Seaslopes road leads onto the farming area, near Wingate Avenue, which has one light working.

There is a tavern on the corner of Alexandra road, plus a place to braai and drink alcohol.

It’s another dangerous road as people can tend to walk in the middle of the road (while under the influence of alcohol).
