As to be expected, July has been cold and dry.
Records however, contradict this observation as in years gone by we have had exceptionally wet Julys in Scottburgh – as the stats testify.
Rain fell only on two occasions this past July, despite the recent overcast conditions: 6,5mm fell on the 23rd and 2,5mm on the 30th, bringing the total for July to a meagre 9mm.
The monthly figures for July however, make for interesting comparisons.
July 2021 – Nil rainfall; 2020 – 16,5mm; 2019 – 4mm; 2018 – 17mm; 2017 – 54mm; 2016 – a whopping 275mm and 2015 – 182mm.
These stats confirm what the experts tell us about the global weather – that we have periods of dry and then wet conditions. It is clear that we have had periods of low rainfall alternating with periods of high rainfall in the winter months here in Scottburgh.
It will be interesting to see what rainfall next year brings – or does not bring.
