TONY MASON: “Average monthly rainfall for Scottburgh”
Statistics for Scottburgh's monthly rainfall.
With the official arrival of spring, we can now look forward to somewhat wetter weather here on the South Coast – judging by the windy conditions we have been experiencing over the last few weeks.
Winds have been gusting from the north and south at 40 to 50km an hour along the east coast this past week, accompanied by icy blasts from the berg.
While the August winds are understood to bring the rains, our rainfall here on the mid south coast fell mainly over a few days at the beginning of the month, relieving what had been quite a dry winter.
Scottburgh recorded the following rainfall during August: 6th – 33mm; 7th – 12mm; 8th – 11mm; 21st – 1,5mm; 28 – 9mm. The total rainfall for August was 66,5mm.
Previous August rainfall figures for Scottburgh were as follows: 2021 – 62mm; 2020 – 7,5mm; 2019 – 23mm; 2018 – 56mm; 2017 – 103,5mm. The statistics seem to suggest that when we have only average rainfall in August (as we had this year), we can expect only average rainfall in September.
