OPINION: Illegal dumpers should be ashamed

Two cyclists took matters into their own hands to clean up the area that had a pile of junk dumped there.

What should have been an enjoyable outdoor cycle ride from Scottburgh Beach, over the R102 bridge and onto the single track under the subway towards Renishaw turned into a disappointing revelation of the human kind.

Just before the subway we were met with the unsightly pile of household junk that someone obviously off-loaded with a bakkie.
One would expect a person who disposes a wet suit, kreepy-krauly and household appliances would be privileged and educated enough to know

this has a detrimental effect on the environment and is a poor example to set for our future generation.
With little effort, this could have been transported to the official dumping site close to Kelso, and at no extra cost.

It took us, the two cyclists, two and a half hours to load and unload at the dump. The guilty parties should be ashamed of themselves.
