OPINION: Idleness cannot be good for our young people

When he comes out of jail he would have a skill as well as being fit in mind and body.

A seven year old girl gets raped and killed in our community and a man gets arrested and goes to jail. And admits to raping and killing the little girl.

Our newspaper reports this (kind of thing), regularly. Does this not rip your heart out?

The question to you is: how do we rehabilitate this man and put him back in the community without raping again?

The State sends him to jail where he gets food and accommodation and gets looked after. Therefore, to make this man a responsible person to the community, he should be put to work while he is in jail, to keep his mind busy on work and not on doing wrong things.

Idleness cannot be good for our young people. Our people are desperately in need of toilets, bathrooms, housing and road repairs.
We have a lovely country. Let’s clean our beautiful country and put these prisoners to work to improve the quality of life of our citizens.

When he comes out of jail he would have a skill as well as being fit in mind and body.
