On a recent drive around to admire the work of Tidy Towns I noticed that the colour of the moment is grey – battleship grey, fossil grey, steel grey, thunder grey – probably 50 or more shades of grey! We moved on from beige to grey.
We’re a seaside coast. We have beautiful weather. The beaches are gorgeous. The vegetation is lush. The golf courses are green. But what colour do we choose to paint our homes, apartments, business buildings? Grey!
How sad to see the one gorgeous building in Margate that stood out as a landmark covered in purple has now joined the grey brigade.
How cheerful it would be to see bright blues, reds, yellows, greens and all the colours in between – even shades of white. How vibrant are the colours of Bo-Kaap?
How gorgeous and colourful are the Mediterranean buildings on the coasts of Spain, Portugal and Italy.
Try Googling ‘Colours predicted for 2023/2024’ – fondant pink, cyber lime, radiant red, elemental blue and nutshell.
Please, please – no more grey.
