OPINION: You can take our sign but can’t hide the truth

That evening around 100 residents stood in protest and will remember who to vote for in the coming election.

I refer to the article on page 2 of Herald July 21, 2023 regarding 51 days without water.
It’s amazing how quickly a silent protest sign displaying the truth can get removed.

It was taken down by protection services less than a day after it was erected.
No other signs were removed, only the one telling the truth.

That evening around 100 residents stood in protest and will remember who to vote for in the coming election.
Sadly, the only comment forthcoming was from (Ugu spokesman) France Zama who stated that this was not a true reflection as the municipality had made provision via static tanks.

Although this may be the case, it was way inadequate for the number of residents over the period of time.
I also have written to protection services, who after repeated emails have still not acknowledged or replied as to who and why our sign was removed.

Thank you to your newspaper that is in touch with the people. It seems our municipality certainly is not.
