BRONWYN TANNER: Tuning In – Shame on you vandals!

Community news and events for the mid-South Coast area.

Scottburgh Golf Club recently completed five days of spring treatment to the greens and somebody dug out squares on two of the greens – hole 2 and 3.

A call came into the club advising that a white SUV/double cab with a NUZ number plate had been seen at the green around 17:00, but they did not get the full number plate.

As the South African population readied themselves for the match of the year last Sunday, parts of Umdoni was plunged into darkness – Freeland Park, Scottburgh and Park Rynie from about 16:30 and then Pennington from about 40 minutes before kick off.

Eskom, ah Eskom! I would imagine that generators were swiftly fired up and those folk without generators were rapidly finding somewhere to watch the game. Zero cellphone signal, battery dead, unable to know the time, and/or what was happening to the electricity (or the cause of its sudden disappearance at a most inappropriate moment), has caused me to place an analogue clock on top of the shopping list. A clock that goes tick tock and requires one battery which lasts for a couple of months. That’s reliability!

Registration for next year’s general election will take place at the events room in the Pennington municipal buildings, Dolphin Drive for Ward 10 soon. Watch this space for further information.
