OPINION: Stranded motorists grateful for taxi association’s help

The man known as Sipho went above and beyond what was expected.

While driving on the R102 near the Hibberdene interchange on Monday (March 3rd), I struck a large pothole.

This caused both the front and rear tyres on the righthand side of my car to deflate shortly after we turned onto the N2 northbound.

This left my husband and myself stranded on the highway. I phoned for help, and we waited.

Fortunately, not long after that, Sipho (surname not obtained) from the Route Operation of the Umtwalume Taxi Association stopped to offer his assistance.

Even though we had already called for help, he offered to stay with us as he said the area was dangerous, with criminals using these sorts of incidents to rob motorists.

He remained with us for more than an hour until help arrived.

We wish to express our grateful thanks to Sipho and the Umtwalume Taxi Association for the support and assistance received.
